A look inside: Pathfinder's Bestiary 4

As we draw up to Halloween there are GMs around the world looking for some new horrors to scare their players with. Right on schedule the ever helpful Paizo have unleashed Bestiary 4 for Pathfinder. Now, it might be that the 320-paged hardback won’t make it to your local store in time but it will be available from Paizo.com, including a $9.99 PDF download that can be purchased from October 30th.

There are more than 300 new monsters in this book including Cthulhu and giant kaiju. We’ve got a look at some of the new monsterous offerings in this post.

In addition to the monsters, Pathfinder’s Bestiary 4 brings new player-friendly races like nagaji, kitsune and changelings. There’s also new familiars, animal companions and other allies to assist the characters.

Bestiary 4 has new creatures to construct such as clockworks and juggernauts as well as templates that will help GMs get more life out of classic monsters.

Savvy to the needs of a busy GM the book has appendices designed to help find the right monster, including tables that list by Challenge Rating, habitat and monster type. There’s an expanded universal monster rules to simplify combat too.
