Spirit of 77 mixes in classic 70s sci-fi with action, glam music and even kung-fu. Sound ambitious? Not your cup of tea? I worried but when I read through the free to download Cruise Ship of the Damned I was won over.
I’m not alone. At the time of writing the Spirit of 77 Kickstarter has over 250 backers, 27 days still on the clock and has doubled their target.
A pledge of $20 unlocks the core book, expansion book and all the digital stretch goals. $30 for gamers in the UK or Canada ($40 for other locations outside the US) gets your one physical copy of the core Spirit of 77 rules (and the PDF). $50 unlocks the physical core rules and expansion along with stretch goals. That’s awfully generous.
It’s expected that the core rules will be a digest sized production (that’s 6 inches by 9), softcover and come in at about 250/300 pages. Monkeyfun Studios will sell this book for $30 after the Kickstarter. The Expansion will have a similar shape, about 120 pages, colour cover but black and white interiors.
If you’re loaded you can step up to the $2,500 pledge level… one of the limited three slots has gone already.
Stretch goals are already unlocked. There are new pre-made adventures; Women’s Prison of the Apes, Disco Ambulance, Beast: Bound and Down and Jukebox Villains (names subject to change). Backers at the One Bad Mother level will also now get Spirit of 77 custom “casino like” dice. Extra art has also been unlocked.
Is that all? Truth is all the listed stretch goals have been unlocked. Monkeyfun will have to have a ponder as to whether they want to add any more and how to avoid stretch goals turning the whole project unprofitable.
