Based on Philip K Dick’s alternative history, Hugo Award-winning, the pilot episode is an hour long and will be part of seven shows in a season airing via Amazon Instant Video in the US, UK and Germany. Amazon viewers have the chance to provide feedback and Amazon will use that to determine which make the cut and become a full series.
Pilots can be watched on Fire TV, Fire tablets and the Fire phone. Amazon Instant Video is also available for iPad, iPhone, plenty of Android devices, Roku, Xbox, PlayStation and Wii as well as other connected TVs.
The Man in the High Castle’s alternative take on history picks up after World War II and asks what would have happened if the allies had lost. It’s set 20 years later in the United States in a world which has largely been carved up by Germany and Japan. Tension between the two new super powers is mounting and the stress is playing out in the west of the United States.
The hour-long dramatic pilot stars Alexa Davalos (Mob City) as Juliana Crain, Luke Kleintank (Pretty Little Liars) as Joe Blake, Rupert Evans (The Village) as Frank Frink, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Mortal Kombat Legacy) as Tagomi, Joel De La Fuente (Hemlock Grove) as Inspector Kido, Rufus Sewell (Eleventh Hour) as John Smith and DJ Qualls (Z Nation) as Ed McCarthy. The pilot is directed by David Semel (Madam Secretary, Heroes) and written by Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files), both serving as Executive Producers.
Frank Spotnitz and Ridley Scott have had a bash at adapting the novel for Syfy in the past.
