Wizards of the Coast have released more D&D content through their playtest series on Arcana Unearthed.
Fans now have two new subclasses to play with, test and feedback to the Dungeons & Dragons team. There’s a dragon theme to both new subclasses.
Way of the Ascendant Dragon
A Monk subclass that reveres the power and grandeur of dragons. Ki is channelled into resonating with the monk’s draconic might who, according to the Ascendant Dragon Origin table, may have been closely observing dragons, might have found a dragonic technique scroll or may even have been Ki-shaped by a dragon.
At third level, the Draconic Disciple can do acid, cold, fire, lightning or even poison damage with unarmed strikes.
Later on, the monk learns Wings Unfurled and can use spectral wings, adopt the Aspect of the Wyrm and finally the Ascendant Aspect.
Drakewarden
A Ranger subclass for those with a bond to a drake and who can tap into the power of dragons.
The Drakewarden Origin table includes a secret order of Dragons, the protector of a drake’s egg or even ancient Draconic inscriptions on powerful standing stones.
At third level, Drakewardens get a Drake Companion. Later on, they develop the Bond of Fang and Scale, Drake’s Breath and finally a Perfected Bond which also sees the drake grow to a large-sized creature.
