Abascanto Press have released the BYTE Roleplaying Game Rulebook.
The RPG is a successful Kickstarter which took more than €10,000 to fund the 400+ page rulebook.
The game includes 10 different technology levels, setting tiers which define whether guns, cars, cybernetics or even steel swords are available to the PCs. There are 20 other thematic modules which add everything from monsters to airships as well.
Byte’s premises is that these modules can be mixed together in different ways to create any number of settings, whether those are recreations of familiar worlds or something entirely new.
The micro-setting No Coin For Charon, a zombie apocalypse hex-crawl comes with the rules, and 6 other settings are development thanks to the Kickstarter.
In the works is the swashbuckling Ashes of the Heavens, the Mad Max-style Yeraksys: Dying World, occult sci-fi The City and The Numina (and the sequel Audio Tapes from the End Times), the dark space opera Ghosts of T’Kelti, and the supernatural Blades for the Dead Empress.
The Quickstart rules are free to download and still available from the official website (PDF link).
The main rules, priced at $25, are available from DriveThruRPG.
