The Role Play Haven is a charity organizer that brings tabletop roleplayers together at 7 branches in the UK. The group has over 1,000 members, and this makes it the most extensive gaming club in Europe.
Members have raised £17,000 for charities in recent years, but now the group itself is in trouble. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the group cannot meet, and the game nights have been cancelled.
A GoFundMe campaign must now raise £3,500 for The Role Play Haven to survive.
Donations will help relaunch the clubs in 2021 with a safer environment, adapt the website, and if there’s any cash left over, it will be spent on future charity gaming events.
Safer gaming environments means the provision of masks, cleaning materials, hand sanitizer stations and perhaps even protecting screens at the gaming tables.
Importantly, it also means an online booking system to reduce queues (face-to-face time and proximity) and secure venues, so the local branches do not go homeless.
The GoFundMe launched today, with a strong start and publishers like Modiphius, Mindjammer Press, Chaosium, Free League and others are on board to help, many of whom feature on the video.
