Spot the difference: Final Fantasy XIV alpha verus Final Fantasy XIV beta

Square Enix have been showing off some more of Final Fantasy XIV. In particular, they’ve addressed some initial concerns that the game looked a bit bland.

I would agree that the lighting differences between the alpha test and beta test versions are more dramatic. I do worry about the combat though. I used to perfer my CRPG combat to be turn based… but after Final Fantasy XIII failed to hold my attention I do worry about its future. Watch the few seconds of combat in this vid. Do you fall asleep?
