Are you confident in your ability to drive through snow or a dust storm to get to a gaming convention and answer questions about RPGs? Then you might be the Tabletop Game Company Assistant Manager that Indie Press Revolution wants to hire.
Indie Press Revolution (IPR) is a sales network for a large number of RPG publishers. The company was bought by DOJ Inc (who also own Hero Games) in 2010 and works to help its publisher members sell their games.
So, why all the confident driving skills?
IPR is based in a remote town called Gerlach in the United States. Gerlach is an artist colony and agricultural community best known as the home of the Burning Man festival, and it’s about 100 miles north of Reno, Nevada and home to only 150 people.
While IPR might be well known on the internet and in the American RPG convention space, it’s a small company and as the Assistant Manager, you’ll e working on the computer, in a warehouse, on the phone and at conventions. You will be living in Gerlach, a town with a cafe, a restaurant and several bars.
The job spec says;
You have a valid driver’s license, a vehicle, and are able to drive twenty miles safely when needed, including in inclement weather. Snow doesn’t frighten you. Neither do dust storms.
Given that convention duties are also part of the job, which pays up to $10 an hour, the recruitment ad also says;
You aren’t afraid to fly, don’t mind driving, and can deal with crowds of people. Sharing a hotel room with a well-behaved coworker does not present any issues for you.
