Xavier Deschenes has created environments in computer games for companies like EA and Ubisoft. Now they’re on Kickstarter with Ultimate RPG Battle Map Creation Kit for Virtual TableTop.
The Kit has pre-made battle maps and blank ones with loads of assets ready to add to them and create your own suitable for whichever virtual tabletop (VTT) you’re using. The campaign is freshly launched, and for a very short time, early bird offers are available.
The Kit contains 15 prepopulated maps. There’s a Port, Castle, Island, Ocean, Beach, Wasteland, Icy Winter, Underworld, Mountain, Church, Hills, Village, Forest, Desert and a Canyon.
There are also 10 empty terrain models to fill; Grass, Pavement/Dirt, Snow and Ice, Arid, Sand, Sand Dunes, Dark Burnt Dirt, Sea, Mountain and Island.
To these blank models you add goodies from nature or architecture kits. The nature kit has rivers, cliffs and the like while the architecture kit has sewers, rooftops, ruins, etc.
However, the full bundle is only available at the upper pledge tiers.
The first reward tier is CA$31, which offers 5 prepopulated maps. CA$44 gets you ten and CA$57 15 of them.
If you miss the early bird deals, then CA$75 is what you need for the “customer kit” which gets you the empty maps, 9 nature kits, 10 architectural kits, lots of decals and hundreds of props (but not the prepopulated maps).
Everything that’s CA$101.
What the Kickstarter doesn’t say is what software you need or that it might offer. I assume we’ll be getting PNG or JPG files, with transparent backgrounds.
