Wizards of the Coast used their new and improved techniques to stop the name Candlekeep Mysteries leaking, but it didn’t work.
The D&D community knew a new book was coming when Amazon, Penguin Random House and retailers uploaded a and added a cover.
We can see that the book is Candlekeep Mysteries and will be an anthology of 17 mystery-themed adventures.
The front cover shows what appears to be a pair of adventurers, one a warrior and the other probably a wizard or cleric examing an open book. The team are framed by towers of similar books and seem to be surrounded by shelves.
Just behind the title “Candlekeep Mysteries” there’s the suggestion of a glowing skull looking right at the two unaware adventurers which give the growing shadows a somewhat more ominous feeling.
Mysteries can be hard to run in D&D, given that many characters will have the ability to sense the truth or detect evil. It’ll be interesting to see whether Wizards of the Coast offer DMs tips on how to deal with this.
We should get official confirmation from Wizards of the Coast about the new book sometime on Tuesday the 12th. Digital copies are likely to be available at the usual partners of D&D Beyond, Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds but, as usual, a PDF download is unlikely to be sold.
