Artist and author, Kris McClanahan, of the Tabletop & Tentacles zine is back on Kickstarter to share The Shimmer.
The Shimmer is an underground would of glowing fungus and dangerous creatures, it’s full of tunnels, death and where your character lives. As death is so common, the weird bug-people are a hive mind in a single, self-repairing and shaping body. You die and come back. Well, a few times. You can play 3die6 as a solo-RPG or as a traditional group-focused game. Death lurks in the darkness in either scenario.
Welcome to THE SHIMMER. A subterranean world of glowing mushrooms, strange creatures, winding tunnels and death! In 3DIE6, you play a member of the Roan, a city of little creatures that are part bug, part human, maybe a little bit alien and a lovely shade of blue. They also die all of the time. To help remedy that somewhat, they have evolved over time to have three distinct hive-minds inhabiting the same body. They take turns driving and, because the Roan are essentially exoskeleton and goo, they can even re-shape their bodies to specialize in skills depending on who is driving the Exoskeleton at the time. If one of the hive-minds die, the other minds can take over the body and carry on the glorious fight. Once they recover from any squashed body parts that may have killed off their old mind-mate, anyway.
A pledge of $7 will get you the digital rules, and an upgrade to $10 gets you those and the ‘zine The Egg Hunt Adventure.
$12 will get you the core rules in print and digital.
There’s also a deluxe version of the core rules, available in digital and print, available at higher tiers. However, the bad news is that the print version is only available in the United States.
Irrespective of the tier you go for, shipping is expected to start in June.
