Trudvang is a popular 20-year old RPG set in the wild forests of a Norse-Celtic inspired world that tends to the dark and grim rather than fireball fantasy.
Last year, Trudvang expanded and became a two-system setting as it added the all-conquering 5e to its offering. This year, in a promising sign that RiotMinds intend to do both systems justice, the latest Kickstarter is all about elves a for both Trudvang Chronicles and 5e. Trudvang: Seed of Vanirs is open on Kickstarter.
Seed of Vanirs is the third sourcebook for Trudvang, the first for 5e, and explores the mysteries of elves. The book contains never published before material.
From that misty dawn when the first trees rose up through the dirt and the first heavy drops of rain nourished the ground, the elves have lived in Trudvang. It was here that they landed, blades of light spearing down in bright unbroken beams alongside their gods, and seeded the first forests. Slowly, over many years, a new world began to take shape beneath their feet. Then as now, Trudvang is an inhospitable and wild place. The land is blanketed by forests so lush and so deep that even the elves don’t travel here. The elves by necessity live lead a nomadic existence, moving from place to place so as not to scar the landscape with the marks of their existence. They are the guardians of this place, nurturing the land they have chosen to call home. Their lives are dedicated to protecting these lands. It is about keeping nature in balance. Anything that might cause an imbalance is a threat.
In addition to funding an English language version of Seed of Vanirs, an adventure campaign called the Elven Road is also part of the Kickstarter. Seed of the Vanirs is expected to be about 120+ pages and Elven Road 100+, making it a non-trivial portion of the Kickstarter.
A pledge of SEK 350 (about £31) will get you both books, for both systems, in PDF.
Alternatively, SEK 450 will get you both physical books and PDFs for one system.
Higher tiers exist, but none of them offers access to the core rules, although these may be provided after the campaign as an add-on. Given that, Seed of the Vanir may not be the best play as an entry point to Trudvang.
All the rewards are expected to ship in November 2021.
