9th Level Games are on a roll this Zine Quest session at Kickstarter with a series of quick to close, but attractive, RPG pitches.
The Very Good Dogs of Chernobyl are telepathic canines who protect the world from Lovecraftian Evils in the Exclusion Zone. There are a few days left to back the project, but it has already trashed the $900 funding goal with more than $3,250 pledged at the time of writing. You can find out the current totals and join in on the project page.
The game uses 9th Level Games’ own Polymorph system and is based around the real-life event of the 1986 nuclear reactor meltdown in Soviet Ukraine.
The players each create a GOOD DOG – selecting a Dog Breed, a Generation, and a Calling. Breed determines which die you roll in the game (a Steady Pug rolls a d4, where a Strong Shepard rolls a d8). Your Calling is a focus you have – being a watcher, a hunter, a thinker, or the like; giving you advantages in that area.
A pledge of $10 will get you a hi-res digital copy of the zine and access to the add-ons. It’s worth really exploring those add-ons as the chance to back many of 9th Level’s other zines during this season have been and gone, but you can have an opportunity to pick up Rebel Scum and here.
It only costs $15 to secure both the physical zine and the PDF copy, but you have to add in shopping.
Alternatively, you can pledge $45 to get Savage Sisters, Very Good Dogs of Chernobyl and Savage Sisters as zines.
All the tiers have an expected delivery of August, except the retailer option noted as September.
