Variety found out that Netlix had a Terminator anime inbound. The Netflix Twitter account NX then confirmed it.
According to Variety’s source, it’s early days, but Skydance is involved. They’re the company that produced the last two films.
The anime studio producing the project is Production I.G., who do Ghost in the Shell and also B: The Beginning, which will soon have the sequel B: The Beginning Succession air on the platform.
John Derderian, Netflix’s Vice President of Japan and Anime, told Variety,
‘Terminator’ is one of the most iconic sci-fi stories ever created–and has only grown more relevant to our world over time. The new animated series will explore this universe in a way that has never been done before. We can’t wait for fans to experience this amazing new chapter in the epic battle between machines and humans.”
The news comes at the same time as Nightfall Games has started to produce The Terminator RPG.
While the tabletop game is official, it has no connection to Skydance and will mention anything other than the first film and The Dark Horse comics.
