Rebellion plan to release the oversized “Brian Bolland: The Apex Edition” next year. The collection will showcase the famous artist’s work from the iconic 2000 AD.
Described as one of his generation’s greatest comic book artists, Bolland helped secure 2000 AD’s reputation as a publication of significance.
The publisher has already had success with the Zenith Apex Edition which took Steve Yeowell’s artwork from his and Grant Morrison’s superhero series to forge an oversize book, but there’s a problem with the Brian Bolland project.
Some of the art is missing.
Rebellion are hopeful that you might get in contact with them if you have any of the following;
- 2000 AD Prog 110 (‘Punks Rule’) pages 5, and 6
- 2000 AD Prog 120 (‘Forever Crimes’) pages 1, 2, and 5
- 2000 AD Prog 182 (‘Block War’) pages 3, and 5
- 2000 AD Prog 224 (‘Judge Death Lives’) pages 1, 2, 4, 5, 6
- 2000 AD Prog 225 pages 1, 2, 3
- 2000 AD Prog 226 pages 1, 2, 3, 6
- 2000 AD Prog 227 pages 1, 2 and 4
- 2000 AD Prog 228 pages 1, 2
- 2000 AD Prog 244 (‘Block Mania’) pages 1, 2, 4, 5, 6
As you’d hope, Rebellion promise to look after and return your artwork.
Rebellion are not saying they won’t publish The Apex Edition if they don’t get the art, but it seems the book will be better for it. Already many pages have already been located and scanned, some coming from private collections in the US, France and other countries.
The book will be co-edited by David Roach and Rebellion graphic novels editor Oliver Pickles.
