Led by Redditor Murphen44, Wands and Wizards is an impressive Harry Potter to D&D 5e adaptation.
It’s unofficial, of course, homebrew content but impressive.
Made on GMBinder so it looks like the D&D sourcebooks you already have in your collection. Wands & Wizards is over 100 pages that take the world of Harry Potter and friends and applies D&D rules. If you want to find out what a term in Hogwarts might be like, this is how you can find out.
You can also get the PDF of the latest version from Google Drive. Geek Native will embed this content below.
Chapter one kicks off by introducing the Houses of Hogwarts. The Beuxbatron, Durmstrange and Houses of the Ilvermorny are included as well.
As you’d expect, there’s an emphasis on magical character classes, and Wands & Wizards suggest three and has a base sorcerer feature.
There’s the Willpower Caster who cast on instinct, and perhaps Harry Potter and Tom Riddle are examples of these.
Then there are the Technique Casters, those witches and wizards who have put in hours of practice to learn the arts. Examples include Dumbledore and Snape.
Lastly, there’s the Intellect Caster, and these are academics who really get the magic theory. Hermione and Newt Scamander are both examples here.
Layering over these different wizard/character class styles, Wands & Wizards offers up different Schools of Magic. There’s enough scope for there to be very little overlap, even in large parties.
Schools of Magic are Charms, Jinxes, Hexes and Curses, Transfiguration, Healing, Divination and Magizoology. I’ve not read the books, but these all sound very familiar from the movies – with Hogwarts holding classes in each. These six become subclasses so your witch or wizard can specialise as required.
The conversion includes 14 new feats and 8 new backgrounds.
Then, in addition to magic items suitable for the setting, there are dozens of pages of Harry Potter-style spells and descriptions. There’s even a conversion guide so you can take your favourite 5e spells and adapt them here.
It’s a free to download supplement, as homebrew must be, but that does not stop Wands & Wizards from being expertly illustrated.
