GTG, aka Geek Tank Games, have made paper minis before. I backed a 300+ set and the experience was smooth, although I’m yet to really use the standees due to lockdowns. Trash Mob makes paper minis for several hundred Patron backers.
The two are working together for this campaign, which takes that Trash Mob visual style and applies them to the GTG physics, and it’s going well. GTG asked Kickstarter to find $20,000 to fund the collection, and more than $30,000 has been pledged so far. You can check out the latest total and join in from the pitch page.
Paper minis aren’t for everyone, but their attraction to me is that I use minis so infrequently I want them to take as little space in storage as possible. When I do use them, I want them to look good. GTG doubles down on these benefits.
You will have to buy the minis’ stands separately, but you don’t need to have a base for every mini unless you’re running a tabletop war. That’s why GTG highlight that you don’t need to glue these standees together.
The Trash Mob collab brings different sets to Kickstarter; they are the Heroes Set, Coldblood Set, Dragons Set, Fiends & Foes Set, Goo Crew Set, Elemental Set, Undead Set, Rampage Set and two Lair Lurkers Sets.
The standees are sized for a “standard” 1″ battle map and therefore come in sizes that range from 1″ (small) to 3″ (huge).
A $30 pledge is required for any rewards. I imagine that’s because Trash Mob provides digital versions of these designs. That $30 rewards you with 2 sets from the menu above, and you’ll have to add in storage sheets and mini bases separately or use one of your sets.
There are economies of scale as $56 unlock 4 sets, $78 unlock 6, $96 unlock 8, and $110 unlock 110.
Remember that tabletop war I mentioned? Retailers can go up to $900 and get 150 sets. The max “civilian” tier is $140, which is enough for 14 sets.
