Geek Native has a preview of Defenders: Throne of the Bandit Lord, a choose your own path book base on the Lone Wilderlands, and now news of the Kickstarter launch.
Derick William Dalton’s project takes readers on an adventure of their direction. The author is asking for $1,100 to fund art, and you can join the project at the pitch page.
Defenders: Throne of the Bandit Lord is the first in a series of high fantasy choose your path novels, penned by Whitney Award-nominated Derick William Dalton.
Written in third person, reader choices and hero abilities allow a range of storylines and endings, one of which leads to the sequel, The Elusive Elixir.
Defenders has an introduction explaining the mechanics of character traits, skills, combat, use of gear, and character improvement. No additional books are needed.
The choose your own adventure is written, edited, proofread, and if the campaign is successful, the book will be delivered in August, once art is added.
There are various soft (not cash) stretch goals that help bring the campaign to life. As Derick’s email list grows, does the discount on the print-on-demand coupons.
Equally, Facebook growth also helps reduce the final price anyone pays. These two, email and social, stack on each other as well.
It’s a pledge of $6 to get the final, with art, PDF edition of Defenders: Throne of the Bandit Lord. The book will be more than double this price by the time it hits Amazon.
The Lone Wilderlands RPG is available as a print & play PDF for $15, and that comes with the Defenders book and bonuses.
Derick’s offering a mixture of other tiers, including the chance to appear in the sequel, and it’s worth noting that those print-on-demand coupons come to all backers if the project is successful.
