Apocalypse 5e is an adaptable setting in which characters explore the world 700 years after humanity’s fall. How did the world end? That’s up to you, and even the timeline is flexible, as A5E provides the framework for post-apocalyptic play with a ruleset you’re already familiar with.
The game combines sci-fi and fantasy and has set itself an ambitious target of hitting $100,000 with limited reward tiers available outside of retail. You can take a look at the progress or pledge on the project page.
Was your world torn asunder by war, famine, or terrible storms that scorched the sky? Did technology take over and destroy most life forms? Were fires raging out of control and smoke and breathable air the cause for the apocalypse? Was there disease, radiation, an ice age, rising seas? You decide.
There’s a two-page preview (PDF link) of the character generation chapter which shows a clean and thoughtful layout for the book.
If successful, the finished book will be a 400-page hardback with character generation, optional 5e rules, equipment, implants with campaign and adventure ideas.
The book will be full colour from cover to cover, finished with spot varnish and illustrated by Dean Spencer, Tan Ho Sim, Forset Imei, Storn Cook and others.
A goal of Apocalypse 5E is to blend fantasy and sci-fi without complex game mechanics, so the setting can be used for various apocalyptic types.
A pledge of $30 will get you the book’s PDF, and one of $60 adds the hardback and the stretch goals, which is a $10 saving on the PDF.
Add-ons, such as t-shirts, exist, but that’s it for the basic pledge levels.
The higher tiers allow retailers to buy multiple copies of the core rules or a group of 5 to each get copies for themselves at a discount.
The expected delivery is February 2022.
