Redditor FiammaFenice has shared some amazing photographs of the board game Carcassonne re-themed into a game of Pokemon.
A free download is available from their Board Game Geek profile, though you need an account at the site to access it.
Inspired by a suggestion, FiammaFenice took the concept of Pokemon Carcassonne and ran with it.
The free mod gives you colour squares to print out and place over your Carcassonne – so, warning, it’ll be hard to go back or use cardboard to make a brand new copy of the game.
The download includes a quick refresher on the scoring that’s been adapted to the new Pokemon battle as well.
Cities become tall grass areas, monasteries become Pokecentrers, and you can spy original Pokemon around the board. The Traders & Builders expansion has benefited from a re-theme too, adding rarer Pokemon to the game. Inns and Cathedrals, another expansion, becomes the “Poke Marts and Pokepark” add-on instead.
FiammaFenice did not stop there and shared some 3d renders of what Pokemon-style meeple might look like.
It’s a work of art.
