Have you thought about setting an RPG in an inhospitable such as a frozen world, dark planet or even in the ocean?
On the 17th of April, at 20:00 BST / 15:00 ET / 12:00 PT, Geek Native will be hosting a round table discussion on this in the community Discord and in the auditorium channel.
You are invited.
The auditorium channel is a new type of channel from Discord, a stage channel, so you can come and go as you like without being disruptive. You cannot speak unless invited up on to the stage but can listen to guests and me tackle the topic of inhospitable settings.
This brings me on to the important stuff. We’ve a great line up. Taking part in the discussion is:
- Nor Cal Mythos, who will soon reveal the pledge levels for their LokDown Kickstarter.
- Jeff Barber of Biohazard Games, who is mid-Kickstarter for Blue Planet, a water-world setting.
- John Yackel of Valiant Fox Gaming and creator of Fading Embers, a fantasy world set in ice.
I estimate the roundtable will last between 30 to 60 minutes, and we’ll do introductions, talk about why unique environments are both attractive for GMs but challenging too. We’ll get into world-building and what rule tweaks and other considerations there might be.
During the round table, you will be given opportunities to take part, share observations or ask questions as you’ll be able to raise your hand. However, Discord’s stage channels are brand new, and this is the first such attempt, although it follows on from our Discord chat with Marc Faulise about Mythic Table, the open source VTT.
Oh, and if you like the art from this page then it’s a slice of the cover image of the Pay What You Want Fading Embers Setting Primer.
