Wizards of the Coast have once again added to the ongoing Unearthed Arcana playtesting of Dungeons & Dragons.
Available from today are new Draconic options. The free PDF includes three alternatives to the dragonborn race, a new look at kobolds, feats and then spells.
Chromatic Dragonborn
These dragonborn have a chromatic dragon in their ancestry and, with that, a connection of elemental power.
Breath Weapon, Draconic Resistance and Chromatic Warding also come with this ancestry. The Chromatic Warding, available from level 3, enables the dragonborn to be immune for 10 minutes from the energy they are associated with.
Metallic Dragonborn
As you might expect, these dragonborn have a metallic dragon ancestor and, with that, also a connection to nature.
These dragonborn have Breath Weapons and Draconic Resistance as well. Then, at the third level, the Metallic Breath Weapon. This second breath weapon may push creatures in an area over or incapacitate them.
Gem Dragonborn
The mysterious gem dragons are in the heritage of these dragonborn and with that, a connection to the force of mind, will and insight.
Once again, these dragonborn have access to a Breath Weapon and Draconic Resistance; however, the Psionic Mind is also available at level one. Gem dragonborn have telepathy.
Gem Flight is available at level three, which summons spectral gems and grants the dragonborn walking speed flight.
Kobolds
With these rules, Kobolds are small creatures with darkvision and a draconic legacy. That legacy grants a saving through to avoid being frightened, or a cantrip or the ability to make a strike with their kobold.
Kobold can also let out a Draconic Roar which grants you and your allies an advantage on attack rolls over anyone who heard the roar.
Draconic Feats and Spells
The three new feat fall into the style of “Gift of the Metallic Dragon”, “Gift of the Chromatic Dragon”, “Gift of the Gem Dragon” and characters with them are suggestive of ones with some past connection to dragons.
