Back in March, Geek Native gave Vulcania the thumbs up for excellent illustrations, nice mechanics and all-around good vibe.
Now GearGames’ steampunk action RPG is on Kickstarter with Beyond the Storm. The storm was the edge of the world in the game, but these rules change that entirely. You can check out the details or pledge from the project page.
Beyond the Storm is the follow-up to the main Vulcania, and you can download a free Starter Pack for it from Gumread.
That Starter Pack has a quick explanation of the main rules, so it is an appropriate starting point if you don’t have the original game.
The expansion adds 200 more illustrated pages and they contain the New World setting, in-depth rules, new Heroic Arts and equipment, airships, new creatures and more help for the Narrator.
BEYOND THE STORM is the follow-up of Vulcania – the role-playing game, designed to bring the wild and uncharted continent of Letvia into your gaming experience. This manual will give you the possibility not only to discover new settings but also to take your character to heroic levels through new arts, equipment and airships, pushing your game sessions to full throttle!
A pledge of €20 (about £18) will get you the PDF of Beyond the Storm, digital stretch goals and core book upgrades.
If you want the Beyond the Storm hardcover as well, along with STL mini stretch goals, plus the previous tier, then that just takes €40. Shipping is extra.
A pledge of €50 adds the Vulcania rulebook in PDF, the Shadow of the Squid, GM screen, Vulcania Map Pack and Token Pack to everything that’s come before.
If you want the core rules and Beyond the Storm in hardback, then that’s a €90 pledge, which feels like good value to me and comes with the digital goodies.
The pledges max out at €350, and all of them have November 2021 as the estimated delivery date.
