New Comet Games has a successful Kickstarter on its hands as hundreds of gamers embrace the siren summons of Corsairs of Cthulhu.
From the publishers of Devil’s Swamp, the campaign book is set between 1650 and 1730 and adds mythos madness to privateer and pirate ships. You can count the current progress, or join in the adventures from the campaign page.
Published under license from Chaosium, Corsairs of Cthulhu asked Kickstarter to find $10,000 to fund the project. They’re currently at over $26,000.
Corsairs of Cthulhu is a rules and setting supplement to the Call of Cthulhu role-playing game and focuses on the period between 1650 and 1730 CE. Your keeper can set up your investigators as crew on a pirate or privateer ship, freelancers in one of the Caribbean ports who love the gold doubloon more than a foreign governments rule, or even provide your investigators with their own ship. Working together the investigators must face evil Mythos, real and imagined. Curses left by ancient civilizations and hidden nightmares around the world.
The setting adds new skills, professions and weapons. It introduces famous NPCs, ship maps and challenges like disease and dehydration.
The book is both a campaign setting but also an entire campaign. The Map of the Astronomer takes investigators to dangerous ports, lands out of this world and fateful encounters with dark creatures.
A pledge of $20 unlocks the PDF of Corsairs of Cthulhu and all the digital stretch goals. Stepping up to $25 adds STLs for the Astronomer’s Map campaign.
It takes a pledge of $50 to get the physical copy, and you’ll need to factor in shipping. At $60, you get the physical copy and all the digital rewards.
Higher goals exist, offering 3D printed goodies or multiple copies, and most tiers are expected to be delivered in December this year. The digital-only rewards are earmarked for October.
