Satine Phoenix, Jamison Stone and the team has a D&D 5e setting and campaign that will take characters from level 1 to 20 in a bohemian city up on Kickstarter.
Sirens: Battle of Bards has a Project We Love tag from Kickstarter, is endorsed by Luke Gygax, the first celeb guest writer announced was none other than the fantastic Deborah Ann Woll, and they’ve more partners in place than a Gen Con hall. There are over 1,000 backers, and you can watch the numbers tick up or succumb to the call from the project page.
While the celebrity endorsements and partners show the star value of Apotheosis Studios, I think the pitch video proves that Sirens: Battle of the Bards is packed with genuine talent.
There are other ways to reassure yourself of content quality. There’s a free 30 page sample, free Syrinscape SBB soundset and chapter 1 is already available for Foundry VTT.
Running a blog is a loss-making folly, so I didn’t have the cash to back Apotheosis Studio’s previous Kickstarter, The Red Opera, so I can’t address whether there’s been any fulfilment hitches but there is a Discord where you can ask that and other questions.
The setting and campaign, which makes no bones about including the likeness of the celebrity creators in its art and NPCs, will come with a full orchestral soundtrack and has new mechanics to encourage investigation.
In terms of pledges, the studio is letting you pledge $1 now to get access to the add-ons that will come later. So if you fancy some of the Level Up Dice, Campaign Coins, minis, etc, but don’t need another D&D book on your shelf, this is the tier for you.
After that, it takes a pledge of $29 to unlock the PDF edition of Sirens: Battle of the Bards. That comes with the map pack.
$49 will get you the PDF edition and one virtual tabletop partner module of your choice.
The hardcover becomes available for $59 plus shipping, the special edition with foil at $89 and the limited edition with slipcase at $149.
Higher tiers exist; much higher tiers exist. You can join the other backers at the $3,000 mark to coordinate with Satine and Jamison themselves, joining them as the inspiration for characters in the campaign.
No matter whether you go for the $1 or $3,000 level, the rewards are slated for delivery this December.
