Poison Potion Press have its first Kickstarter live, and it attracted well over a hundred backers in its opening phase.
On offer is a campaign setting influenced by 70s and 80s science fiction and horror. While it uses 5e, Eldritch Sands does away with character classes for the Whisper system instead. You can check out the current progress or join in from the project page.
There’s a free preview that invites you to discover whether your character could survive the world of Eldritch Sands (PDF link).
Eldritch Sands lets you gear up in powerful suits called Eldritchtech, instead of using a class system, and adds the Whisper system that lets you trade a burst in power for exposure to a cosmic entity, trying to bring you under its thrall.
In an apocalyptic future, on the brink of a human-made annihilation, characters play as Eldritchtech users who can hold a core of this dark energy in their bodies.
Geek Native has chosen not to share the illustration out of respect for arachnophobes but the Deepwater Spiders, a hungry swarm, are just one of the potential nightmare encounters that these Eldritchtech users could experience.
While Kickstarter says this is the first campaign launched by the Poison Potion Press account, the publisher has experience of bringing games to market. In fact, Birds of Paradise is a 5e supplement that became an electrum best-seller on the DM’s Guild.
A pledge of €12 (about £11) will get you an Eldritch Sands wallpaper and the PDF of the campaign setting.
If you want the softcover from the campaign, that unlocks with a pledge of €18, but shipping is extra, and the wallpaper is still included. The PDF and softcover together require a promise of €25.
The estimated delivery of the project is later this year, in November.
