It’s not as if we need any proof that the demographics around tabletop RPGs have changed for the better, but Bisoulovely’s jewellery success is a good case study.
The boutique founded by Breanne Millette sells jewellery online and their Kickstarter for RPG-inspired designs has easily smashed through one million Canadian dollars. You can check the latest totals, or join the thousands of backers, from the project page.
Biosoulovely is a team of eight based in Montreal. Breanne’s background is game development, jewellery came later. Jewellery has also been a success for the company; they’ve been featured in Vogue, Vanity Fair and Elle.
On offer is class-based jewellery, and that means Warrior, Mage, Archer and Healer. Each class is available as a ring, mismatched study earrings and as a pendant.
Since the Kickstarter has been a huge success, the following classes unlocked; Rogue, Paladin, Necromancer, Druid and Bard. I can see Dark and Light Mage too.
If you want jewellery, which is available in a range of metals too, and I concede that aspect might be more important than which character class inspired the look and feel, then the starting pledges are CA$40 (about £24). That’ll get you one pair of stud earrings or a charm bracelet.
CA$95 is rewarded with a pendant necklace, CA$100 for a charm choker, CA$130 for 4 pairs of stud earrings or one ring.
At the top end of the scale is CA$1,500 (about £880) for a 14KT solid gold (white, yellow or rose) ring with a choice of stone.
Shipping and tax are excluded, and I imagine it may be significant in some cases. The expected delivery is November.
