I backed Broken Compass last year as it looked great. I only just got my package yesterday. In part, that was due to Brexit and COVID, with the books coming from Italy, but the publisher Two Little Mice seemed to handle fulfilment in-house, which was a big task.
The good news, though, is that while I cannot vouch for Broken Compass yet, it looks like the experience hasn’t, but Two Little Mice off Kickstarter and plenty of other gamers enjoy the game. The campaign is for the old and new seasons for the pulp adventure RPG, and backers are flooding in. You can see the latest totals or join the campaign from the pitch page.
The new Kickstarter adds two “seasons” to the game. These are settings. The first, the original, is a Nazi-punching pulp adventure that reminds me of Indiana Jones. The two new ones are pirates and then Jules Verne-esq sci-fi, both excellent choices.
In Broken Compass you play as an Adventurer in search of great Treasures, a man or woman of action, ready to risk it all every day, just so they can get to the finish line before their bitter Rival!
There’s a free 100-page quickstart available in exchange for some marketing permissions.
A pledge of €24 (about £21) will get you the Jolly Roger and Voyages Extraordinaires seasons in PDF, and the LuckTales Kickstarter exclusive, What If and stretch goals in digital and as appropriate.
Those digital deliveries are due in October.
An early bird pledge of €59 gets you the season books in hardcover as well, the extra books remain in PDF, you also get the season one rules in PDF and 4 movie posters.
Another early bird, €64, gets you the Adventure Journal (the core rules!) in hardcover and PDF, season 1 in hardcover and PDF, and everything else in PDF.
As you can see, there will be quite a few combinations, and they go up to €165 for a level that includes plenty of hardbacks, dice, maps, screens and other goodies.
The physical tiers are due in December.
