Wizards of the Coast are up to something. While it’s far too early to say that Benedict Cumberbatch is heading to any TV show, he is involved in the celebration of Drizzt event, and there might be a TV show.
Yesterday, WotC released “Sleep Sound”, which is written by R.A. Salvatore and introduces (or re-introduces) the origins story of the Drow ranger.
Of course, all this might be Dark Alliance related, the first computer game from a WotC controlled studio and which features Drizzt.
Christian Hoffer’s team at ComicBook got in touch with Wizards to ask whether the D&D movie would feature Drizzt. They got a response. WotC said the movie…
… not focused on Drizzt, but there is a TV show in development that might be.”
A weak link? Well, the D&D TV show writer, the guy Wizards of the Coast, has hired to get TV companies in buying D&D entertainment, Derek Kolstad talked up the Underdark.
While ComicBook suggests that perhaps the TV show could feature on Drizzt Do’Urden’s early life, Kolstad already seems to have ruled that out by saying the series will not be set in the past.
We are getting details about R.A. Salvatore’s latest book, Legend of Drizzt, which is due out on August 3rd and a preview of the Magic: The Gathering and D&D Forgotten Realms cross over.
