Fish in the Pot have a rules-light RPG up on Kickstarter that’s attracted a “Project We Love” label from the platform.
In the game, characters solve mysteries by using weird science to slide into dreams, searching for clues. However, there are strange forces that don’t want any waking presence in dreams at all. The campaign is looking for $7,000 to fund and has about three weeks to get there. You can check the latest total or join in from the pitch page.
Curious? You can check out the basic rules with a Name Your Own Price download from Itch.io.
If the basic rules are already available, then what’s the Kickstarter for? It’s to offset a colour printing of a 6×9 softcover of at least 100 pages.
Somninauts is also a tool kit you can use to inject mysteries and surreal adventures into your favorite role-playing game.
Is your space wizard experiencing ominous nightmares? Use the Somninauts rollable tables to procedurally generate a fun vision quest adventure. Do you have a Warlock with a patron that slumbers? You can create a tailored experience to reach out to that old, squiggly terror with Somninauts prompts and set dressing.
Inspired by works like Inception, The Lathe of Heaven, Sandman and surrealists like Dali, Escher and Moebius, Somninauts is also influenced by RPGs like The White Hack, The Black Hack, Solar Blades & Cosmic Spells as well as Brindlewood Bay.
There is no health point system in Somninauts. Characters get hit with Recursion as they fail Tests until it equals their weakest attribute, and they have to Bail from the dream space.
A pledge of $20 will get you the digital book as a thank you, whereas one of $30 will get you that and a link to Ancient Undead Spider Wizard, One Page Dungeons, Characters, and Invaders from a Dying Dimension.
The softback, which will ship anywhere with shipping costs paid for by backers, requires a pledge of $35.
There are higher tiers available. A US-only very rare 7″ green vinyl of Ancient Undead Spider Wizard is also available in one of those higher options.
The digital rewards are expected around March 2022, and the physical ones in April.
