Will we see an official Spelljammer setting for D&D 5e?
As noted in the latest Audio EXP podcast “The not-so-secret D&D projects” we now know that The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is a Chris Perkins project, that Strixhaven’s Curriculum of Chaos is an Amanda Hamon one, and that James Wyatt is working on a third secret project to be released in-between. Could it be Spelljammer?
If you can’t wait then, you can always go unofficial and Spelljammer: More Adventures in Space is a well presented and thorough fan conversion.
The project lives in a DropBox folder with maps, character sheets, tokens for virtual tabletops and more.
Spelljammer is a classic D&D setting that dates back to the 2nd edition of the game. It’s D&D in space.
There’s a twist, of course; it’s a fantasy swashbuckling style space adventure and not the clinical encounters of Star Trek with everything sealed off behind airlocks. Imagine someone standing on the deck of a spaceship using a telescope to sight the enemy they’re trying to ambush.
Spelljammer: More Adventures in Space is an 80+page download, with 6 new PC races for D&D 5e, gunpowder weapons, as well as new subclasses and new spells.
There’s an introduction to ship combat and how your PCs can make themselves useful during it.
A Discord is used by the community to discuss Spelljammer and the project.
