Adventures in Oz has funded on Kickstarter, raising the $40,000 that Double Critical asked for in just a few days.
The 5e-setting is so large that there are over 500 pages in two volumes. What convinced people to play as a Munchkin or Flying Monkey in a world with hundreds of monsters? You can watch the pitch video below or check out the project page.
L Frank Baum’s 1900 classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is in the public domain, but the Judy Garland 1939 film is not. The latter is owned by MGM.
Adventures in Oz introduces new character classes and races. It’s a setting that brings monsters to itself, finding ways (as Dorothy found out) to bring in what it needs. The two volumes on offer here have stats for more than 100 creatures.
Set over several different eras gives the book scope to visit many NPCs, and so there’s 5e stat blocks for Dorothy (and her little dog too), the Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch of the West, Tik-Tok and others.
A pledge of $45 gets you the PDFs of the Campaign Setting and the Beasts & Beings download. At $20 but limited in number, a lower-tier offers up some spare Double Critical Deck of Many Things poker cards.
If you just need the Campaign Setting, then that’s $49 for the hardcover and PDF. The 250-page volume is offered with worldwide shipping. Or, if you just want the monsters, it’s the same price for that book.
Both hardbacks unlock as rewards at the $89 tier.
A USA exclusive at $130 adds in a deluxe edition of Campaign for President, Double Critical’s first game, and that Oz Deck of Many Things.
There are higher tiers, but no matter where you land, the estimated delivery is expected around March 2022.
