Blood Sword is an 90s gamebook series with enough renown to have its own Wikipedia page. Now, Italian start-up Tambù, who operates in print on demand space of the tabletop hobby for both publishers and individuals, has brought the title to Kickstarter for a full 5e conversion.
The campaign launched a while back nearly slipped through the radar but was pointed out to me. It’s funded quite easily despite that and is approaching 300% of its goals. You can see Blood Sword’s progress on the pitch page.
There’s a Quickstart for Blood Sword available in English and another one in Italian as a free download via a Google Drive. That didn’t slip through the radar, and Geek Native covered that.
In the game, PCs are mercenaries who are sent on many different dangerous quests including attempts to retrieve fragments of the Blood Sword. The sword is the only thing that can prevent the end of the world.
The Blood Sword 5e Handbook will contain approximately 250 richly illustrated and colored pages with maps, characters, opponents, monsters and other evocative images of Legend, a land of adventurers threatened by unspeakable horrors. Inside it, you will find…
Those 250 pages will include details of Legend, four Blood Sword classes and other new options for 5e. There are 8 new archetypes, backgrounds, talents and signature magic items.
The game introduces new setting rules such as Psychic Exhaustion, Rough Magic, Blood Dice, and Virtues and Fears.
At a glance, the complete Blood Sword kit looks impressive. So let’s take a look at those pledges.
A pledge of €19 (about £17) will get you the 5e PDF with all digital stretch goals.
At €29, the core book is added in physical form.
Make it to €49, and the rewards include the Grand Master Screen, Blood Sword Card Deck, Map Pack, Blood Dice and all physical stretch goals in addition to everything that’s gone before.
At €79, that impressive leather slipcover Kickstarter exclusive is added with the 5e book signed by the authors. You also get the flat plastic mini set added in.
The estimated delivery is in April 2022.
