Did you know there are only 12 magic wands in the core D&D rules? Only 12 for a high fantasy setting with a myriad of other magical times. Scoundrel Game Labs say that official books have only added a few more.
A Kickstarter launched today, The Wondrous Tome of Wands, aims to fix that deficiency. The project will introduce more than 100 new wands to your game if you want, and you can see a gallery of designs in this post. First, if you want to check out the Kickstarter pitch, you can do so at the project page or the video below.
There’s a range of wands in the tome, and each one has its listed rarity level. Impressively, each wand is illustrated in such a way as to fall in line with the D&D visual style.
Sentient wands and cursed artefacts are included in the carefully balanced and thoroughly indexed loot.
If you get a good idea of how the book looks, feels and reads, then there’s a free to download 5-page sample. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FAj-3CXhseBg9S-tWkxKwLkGjA-JIs6D/preview
A pledge of $10 will get you the Tome of Wondrous Wands PDF edition as a thank you reward. Offering $14 is enough to get an at-cost print coupon for the hardback as well, although you’ll still have to pay shipping.
In limited number, and a big step up is the $100 tier which offers supporters the chance to get involved in the conception of additional wands. At this level, you’ll also get credit for your design concept.
An even more limited and already beginning to sell out tier at $250 offers a full illustration.
