Nearly two years ago, even on the back of a successful Kickstarter, YARPS announced it was in trouble. The problem? Lockdown and the economic impact.
YARPS is an impressive web tool to track campaigns, manage notes, character sheets and coordinate your skills as a GM. There are many solutions in that space now, but even while YARPS has been hibernating, it offers some powerful features.
One such feature, for example, is the character portrait generator.
At the low of the project, with the YARPS team struggling to do their day jobs during the COVID-19 crisis, Kickstarter backers were offered their money back.
However, and as the company said it would, they applied for government support in Germany.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy will now support the project. YARPS has more money and is leaving hibernation.
In a blog post, the team says;
We are absolutely aware of the many questions you might have now. Simply proclaiming that “YARPS is back in the game” may be not satisfying. Be assured that none of these questions will stay unanswered. In many cases, the answer will pretty likely be an elaborate version of “Don’t worry, we got you covered” anyways. For now, we will address those which have been crucial for you.
The first significant delivery will be in the first quarter of 2022. It will be a big target because that’s when the alpha version of the new YARPS will be available.
A new YARPS means entirely new, a rebuild of the foundation so all these years of suggestions from power users can be onboarded into the vision.
The sound and wholly necessary news is that your old content can come with you from the original YARPS and the federal government enabled upgrade.
