City of Mist’s designer Amit Moshe once told Geek Native that the game was for people afraid of D&D. When you play City of Mist for a bit, it’s a claim that makes sense. The system leans more heavily on words and descriptions than numbers.
A new tabletop RPG announced by the publisher leans even more heavily into human contact with a strong emphasis on empathy. Also, fierce posing because this is a superhero game.
Queerz, as the name suggests, is an LGBTQ-themed RPG based on the City of Mist system, and there’s a three-part timeline that takes us from now to a Kickstarter.
- Part one is revealed now, as the 1st issue of the Queerz Comic is out.
- Part two comes on July 31st, when there’s a free demo of the game.
- Part three is September 14th, when the Kickstarter launches.

The RPG is based on Isago Fukuda’s webcomic oft the same name. While the theme is an LGBTQ one, the RPG is for everyone.
In QUEERZ!, super-powered members of the queer community battle villains that embody ignorance and bigotry, employing a variety of colorful energy blasts and unique queer abilities. While each encounter begins with classic anime action and flashy exchange of colorful attacks, at the climax of battle, heroes enter the personal landscape at the core of each villain, unpack their past, and help free them from their prejudice and narrow-mindedness. When not battling superpowered ignorance, the protagonists cope with the challenges of their everyday lives and explore their own queerness.
The planned Kickstarter will attempt to fund a Basic Box as a learn-as-you-go experience, including a booklet for players, a booklet for the GM/MC, pregen characters, cards, maps, tokens and dice. Stretch goals will take it further.
