The last time we had a look at Sukugan through trailers, I was heaping praise on its worldbuilding. The latest trailer takes a different approach with an up-close and personal look into some of the action.
We also get to confirm the show will be out in October and will stream on Crunchyroll.
Set in the far future, in Sakugan, people have been forced to retreat underground and live in a cramped city known as the Labyrinth.
We follow a nine-year-old girl named Memempu and her father Gagumber and their daily chores as mere “Workers” to mine out the valuable ore used by the rich to get richer.
Sukugan (which means sacks and guns, so I’m told) will have a theme of family love, yet Memempu and her dad end up as Markers, not just a dramatic step up in pay but also in danger. And that’s just the start of their adventures.
