The Tower of Fools is published today. If you haven’t pre-ordered it (or even if you have!) then Geek Native can give readers in the UK a chance to win a copy.
Published by Gollancz, The Tower of Fools is the first book in a new series. It’ll be followed by Warriors of God, which will be out in October. Not long to wait.
Reinmar of Bielau, called Reynevan, flees after being caught in an affair with a knight’s wife. With strange, mystical forces gathering in the shadows and pursued not only by the Stercza brothers bent on vengeance, but also by the Holy Inquisition, Reynevan finds himself in the Narrenturm, the Tower of Fools, a medieval asylum for the mad, or for those who dare to think differently and challenge the prevailing order. The ‘patients’ of this institution form an incomparable gallery of colourful types: including, among others, the young Copernicus, proclaiming the truth of the heliocentric solar system.

I’ve been able to find a fan review from Donovan De Cicco, who managed to get hold of a copy. Donovan’ 16-minute video essay is thorough, but the takeaway is it’s the story is its own thing from The Witcher, and this edition is translated better.
What a second opinion? Grimdark fantasy author Joe Abercrombie said;
A ripping yarn delivered with world-weary wit, bursting at the seams with sex, death, magic and madness.
