A Verdant Tomb is the third free download from Wizards of the Coast to support the Magic: The Gathering x Dungeons & Dragons crossover.
It follows;
- Part 1: In Scarlet Flames.
- Part 2: The Hidden Page.
Unlike its predecessors, which are adventures for four to six level 8 characters, A Verdant Tomb is for four to six level 9 adventurers. In other words, if you’re running through these scenarios in order, your heroes or anti-heroes are likely to be higher level by now.
Decades ago, a powerful wizard from a distant plane of existence came to the Sword Coast as an explorer. Here she adventured as an explorer, toiled in study, and eventually departed with her young son, back to their home plane of Ravnica. She was called Sylvene, and she left behind memories of beloved allies she met and befriended in the lands of the Sword Coast. Many of those memories were celebrated and commemorated with the construction of a grand crypt in a verdant land—where she hid valuable treasures. Now, those treasures attract not only adventures but the attention of her grandson, Tyreus, whose greed for power knows no bounds.
It’s the Sword Coast, part of the Forgotten Realms, that Wizards of the Coast want to highlight here as the focus of the current crossover promotion. However, the Ravnica is a campaign setting relatively new to D&D players, but an established one for Magic: The Gathering.
Planeswalking has connected these scenarios together. They now begin to showcase what’s possible with the D&DVerse/MtGVerse as a franchise. Another connecting element is the shady villain hinted at previously, who becomes more central here.
