Local gaming stores, FLGS, such as Edinburgh’s Red Dice Games (this blogger’s local) are taking part in a charity board game trade-in with Big Potato Games.
Around 60 independent retailers are in the scheme to help donate to charity.
Gamers can take any bard game (in good enough condition, I hope!) to a participating store, and it’ll be donated to a local charity. In the case of Edinburgh and Red Dice Games, it’s the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity.
There’s more than karma in it for gamers who decide it is finally time to part with old favourites or dust-covered games; 20% off Big Potato Games titles are part of the deal.
Laura Crumbley and Hannah Cornish, who manage Big Potato’s relationship with stores, noted;
We wanted to do something to support our fantastic independent stores, who’ve been forced to shut up shop for the best part of a year. With the Great Board Game Trade-In, we can help drive footfall to the store, whilst giving board games to organisations that really need them.
The program is open now and runs until the end of August.
Gamers are encouraged to check with their local store to see if they’re taking part. Shop owners can get in touch with Laura (shops in the North) or Hannah (the South) to join the scheme.
