On August 23rd Netflix will premier the anime film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
I see naked monsters, shambling hordes and a bathtub scene. Yep, it’s The Witcher.
Escaping from poverty to become a witcher, Vesemir slays monsters for coin and glory, but when a new menace rises, he must face the demons of his past.
The action predates The Witcher by hundreds of years, and Vesemir becomes Geralt’s mentor. He seems pretty different, doesn’t he! Theo James’ voicing of the character makes him seem quite charming, cocky and fun – where’s all the brooding?
Nightmare of the Wolf will be the series’ first step out into anime land, and, at this point, I think The Witcher has been pretty much everywhere else. The Witcher is already in the works: Blood Origin, which will be live-action and set thousands of years before the books.
Fans of the book’s author, Andrzej Sapkowski, can win a copy of The Tower of Fools here on Geek Native (if you’re in the UK). Published by Titan Books, The Tower of Fools is book one in a new trilogy.
