There was a time when each season of Doctor Who was a long story told over multiple episodes. That’s the format the BBC will return to for the 13th season and the 13th Doctor.
At Comic-Con Chibnall said;
The big thing that we’re going to be doing this year is it’s all one story, so every episode is one chapter in a bigger story,
This season Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh) leave the show, but Dan (John Bishop) arrive as a new companion. There are significant rumours about a new Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) on the cards as well.
It seems Chibnall had been planning for Dan’s arrival for a while. The showrunner added;
It’s time for the next chapter of Doctor Who, and it starts with a man called Dan. Oh, we’ve had to keep this one secret for a long, long time. Our conversations started with John even before the pandemic hit. The character of Dan was built for him, and it’s a joy to have him aboard the TARDIS.
Season 13 will be 8 episodes long.
It’s been all go with Doctor Who news of late with Cubicle 7 confirming a second edition of the Doctor Who RPG, this stunning Collectors cover, a new Eagle Moss model range and the immersive production in London of Doctor Who Time Fracture.
