Magnetic Press Play’s first Kickstarter launched today as West End Game’s D6 System is adapted to the paranormal dieselpunk adventures of Carbon Grey.
The creative team is led by award-winning RPG designer Andrew Gaska (Alien, Terminator), and the project has a long month to find the $25,000 it needs in pledges. You can join in or see progress on the project page.
Set in a 1910-style world, during a Great War, drifting airships bomb civilians, mechanised behemoths plough through mud and warplanes battle in the sky.
You can grab a free to download setting primer on Carbon Grey (PDF link) from the campaign.
Take on the role of heroes struggling against a seemingly unstoppable empire with world-conquering aspirations. Survive the grimness of trench warfare. Dare to soar the deadly skies. Master the art of espionage to uncover the secrets of your enemies. Navigate the social hierarchy and underhanded dealings of both the nobility and the underworld. Discover and learn to manipulate the strange powers that affect the very reality of the world around you.
There’s a deluxe edition up for grabs as a reward. It’ll include;
- The core rules in hardcover
- 21 minis (from 32mm heroes to 96mm Cannon Walker)
- 3-pane GM screen
- 140 character and item cards
- 24″x36″ world / battle map
- 12 d6 of different themes
- 8 boards of punch-out tokens
- Linen box
The rules won’t be straight up West End Games D6 but the new Magnetic Variant (D6MV).
A pledge of $15 is enough to unlock a digital copy of the Carbon Grey comic book omnibus as a reward. It’s $30 to get the Carbon Grey rules in digital form along with an accompanying book of materials to print.
It won’t be coming via DriveThruRPG or Itch. Instead, Magnetic Press Play will fulfil the digital assets via Gumroad.
At $40, a physical copy of the Carbon Grey RPG core rules is added, with shipping to be added later. Alternatively, $40 can be used to get the hardcover to the Carbon Grey series as a 300+ page omnibus instead.
If you want to double-up, it’s $45 for both the digital sets and $70 for hard copies.
The deluxe box set, which ships worldwide as well, takes a pledge of $149.
Higher retailer pledges are available and fulfilment is expected in January 2022 no matter which reward tier you unlock.
