Earlier this year, Geek Native gave away a copy of Handiwork Games’ The Forest Dragon Bang Twang. It’s a card game of battling bards.
Geek Native competitions try to avoid asking you to spam friends or follow social media accounts you don’t want to. Instead, the blog asks weird questions and to win this musically themed card game, the question was, “Which musical instrument feels the most appropriate for a fantasy setting?”.
Let’s run through the results of that survey and then, even without a prize, open a new one below and keep it open.
Which musical instrument feels the most appropriate for a fantasy setting? | Responses |
---|---|
Banjo | 2.37% |
Drums | 3.55% |
Flute | 37.28% |
Harp | 32.54% |
Horn | 1.18% |
Mandolin | 14.79% |
Trumpet | 0.59% |
Violin | 7.69% |
It was a fight between the flute and harp, with the flute winning. In the last position, barely getting a vote was the trumpet. Perhaps a bit biblical for a traditional fantasy setting?

And now, the same question again but with an evergreen poll attached. If you’re on a smartphone or small screen, you may have to scroll within the iframe to see all the responses and the submit button.
You may also have a better suggestion for an instrument, so let’s hear those in the comments below.
The pie chart of results updates pretty quickly after your vote, but not straight away. Your browser might save you from having to download the same image too often, so you might have to hammer that refresh key a few times to get the update.
