This blogger remembers going to the school library purely to read Games Workshop’s White Dwarf magazine. That was mainly for the fantasy content, but do you know what Games Workshop really likes these days? Sci-fi. Warhammer 40!
It’s Warhammer 40K fans who the new Imperium magazine is intended for, and buying it loyally from when it launches in a few days will result in the ownership of two large armies.
Imperium tries to do two things at once; appeal to newcomers, helping people get started in the intimidating Warhammer 40K universe, and appeal to those already part of the grimdark future.
The magazine includes sprue minis of Imperials and Necrons, along with painting and building tips.
If you follow along with the magazine, the two armies will clash at the outset of the Indomitus Crusade.
Eventually, subscribers will also get tools such as brushes, binders and art prints. Premium subscribers will also unlock additional smaller armies for Chaos Space Marines, Tyranids, T’au and Orks.
The launch is for the UK at first, with publisher partner Hachette working for international options. As Geek Native readers will know, international shipping is currently a mess for everyone.
How much does Warhammer 40K Imperium cost?
The first issue is £2.99, and the second issue is listed with a £5.99 price tag, suggesting that’ll be the typical cost.
The premium option, which adds those extra armies, costs £4.99 for the launch issue and £7.99 for the second.
