It’s the physical side of tabletop gaming, and it looks gorgeous. Wyrmwood has wooden titles to roll dice, count health, transport minis and open… your beer? Wait? What? Oh, it’s true.
The system stacks together with magnetics and comes with an impressive range of variations. The Kickstarter community agrees, and the $10,000 campaign target was thrashed quickly. You can see the latest total or join in on the project page.
These tiles are tableware in the sense that they’re designed to be both stylish and practical. You impress guests with these first and then make the games you play better with less faff, clutter and clatter.
You may already have some parts of this system if you’ve backed previous Tabletop Tiles projects.
Debuting on Kickstarter in 2019, the Tabletop Tiles quickly became one of our most popular Kickstarter campaigns. The system features hexagonal tiles with rare earth magnets installed on each side, making them all nestle perfectly into one another. Complete with a coaster on the underside of each piece, every Tabletop Tile sports a different design that serves a unique function. That’s right, Tabletop Tiles keep your table organized AND clean. Attach as many as you’d like, or let just one suffice – the choice is yours!
The pledge system is a little different.
Wyrmwood is offering only a $20 pledge, with no add-ons. Instead, you get access to their fulfilment system, which uses your backer number as a primary key to sort out your order and shipping. You can use their calculator to determine that.
I’m not sure why they’re doing it this way, and it might be all down to shipping costs and their calculation. Taking only $20 at Kickstarter means they might have struggled to hit the target, but this clearly isn’t a problem. Perhaps it was to reduce Kickstarters cut?
