The historical horror comic book Northern Steele follows Sam Steele to battle man and monster in the Canadian West.
Written by Scott Schmidt and illustrated by Slobodan Jovanovic, the project has been supported by a Patreon. Outland Entertainment has now bought the series.
The publisher is planning a black and white hardcover edition, which will hit Kickstarter in 2022 and have announced a roleplaying game.
Sam Steele is a historical figure, but these are fictional adventures set in a dangerous frontier and a supernatural world.
In real life, Steele was an officer in the North-West Mounted Police and was the leader of a Yukon detachment during the Klondike Gold Rush and commanding officer of Strathcona’s Horse in the Boer War. Later, he was involved in the unsuccessful attempts to invite Sitting Bull back to the United States.
