The manga Komi Can’t Communicate Tomohito Oda and localised for Western markets by Viz is about getting friends.
It’s also getting an anime.
New girl Shouko Komi is popular at the private high school she transfers to because of her good looks and the perceived way she elegantly and politely does not interact with the hoi polloi.
In truth, she’s not a refined snob; Komi just sucks at talking or communicating with anyone.
However, fortunately, she’s assigned a desk beside the average guy Hitohito Tadano who clocks the problem.
So, Tadano sets about finding 100 friends for Komi. And, as we know, sometimes the journey is more important than the destination.
We’re still waiting to see whether any streaming platforms pick up the show for the West, following on from the successful multi-season manga series.
