The next anime from Death Note’s creators, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, is called Platinum End and is due out in Japan in October.
There’s a new trailer, and from it, we get a solid idea of the plot. It’s all about humans and angels picking, fighting over, and being thrust into the competition to become the next god.
The good news for a Western audience is that Crunchyroll has picked up the series and will stream it as and when it comes out in Japan. Here’s how they describe the show;
I will give you the hope to live.”
Kakehashi Mirai lost his parents in an accident and lived in misery with the relatives who took him in. Having lost hope in everything, he jumped off the roof of a building on the day of his middle school graduation. But then he met an angel…
There’s also an introduction to the series music in this trailer. There’s the opening “Sense,” which is performed by BAND-MAID, and the ending, “Kofukuron,” from singer Yuu Miyashita.
