I’m reminded of Heavy Metal. That’s to say, the French fantasy series which helped inspire a generation of fantasy authors and artists.
Heavy Metal is certainly an appropriate inspiration for a heavy metal band like Iron Maiden too. Their latest music video aired on Adult Swim and has now safely made its way to YouTube.
Maiden has been together for longer than this old blogger has been alive. The band has been playing together for pretty much the same time as D&D has been in production.
Eddie, Iron Maiden’s mascot, fits right into this battle of light versus shadow, dragons versus death and whatever is happening here.
The lyrics are the work of Steve Harris, Maiden’s usual writer and guitarist Janick Gers. Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer, actually was an executive producer on the video as well.
